Last week, the City Finance Committee passed a bill that that would impose a one-percent tax on all new construction or major renovation projects in the city, which proponents say could raise $20 million a year to support affordable housing projects. Three Philadelphia nonprofits will receive grants totaling $5.5 million through the state’s Redevelopment Assistance Capital Program, Gov. Wolf announced today. The latest data released by the Department of Labor shows that unemployment figures are at an all-time low of 3.8 percent, the lowest since records began in 2000.
