In 2014, Cassandra M. Bailey bought Slice Communication from her partners, and set out to make the company her own. “The transaction was incredibly scary and risky. I learned just how resilient I was and that I have a much higher tolerance for risk than I imagined,” she says. Under her leadership, Slice, a marketing communications agency, specialized in taking a different approach to marketing. “We saw the emergence of social media for business and realized that it was a two-way communication, just like public relations,” says Bailey. “It required that companies learn to talk with people, not at them the way traditional marketing does.” Internally, Bailey says she is constantly pushing her team to be more creative and strategic. “My favorite part of the day is brainstorming with them—coming up with new ideas and figuring out ways to execute,” she says.
